Mr. Gilgen is vice president and treasurer of MPLX GP LLC.
Mr. Gilgen joined Marathon in 1981 as a financial analyst in Treasury. He held a series of positions of increasing responsibility, including within Marathon Pipe Line Company where he worked on joint venture pipeline company formations and asset sales, in Marketing as pricing manager, and in Credit as credit manager, responsible for southern wholesale division credit management. In 1998, Mr. Gilgen was named manager, Business Development. While in this position, he participated in a variety of projects, including strategic asset acquisitions and divestitures, e-commerce initiatives and ethanol opportunities, with an emphasis on commercial strategy, contract negotiation and joint venture formation. Mr. Gilgen was part of the joint venture negotiation team responsible for the formation of Marathon Ashland Petroleum LLC and led the project team that developed Speedway’s Speedy Rewards® customer loyalty program. He was the transition team director for MPC’s separation from Marathon Oil. In 2011, Mr. Gilgen was appointed assistant treasurer for MPC where he was responsible for corporate finance and banking. He was a core member of the MPLX formation team in 2012.
Mr. Gilgen graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in management and economics from Marietta College in 1978 and a Master of Business Administration degree with a concentration in finance from Cornell University in 1980.
