Mr. Palmer is senior vice president of MPLX GP LLC. He is also senior vice president, Supply, Distribution and Planning of Marathon Petroleum Corporation.
Mr. Palmer began his career with Marathon in 1976, as a financial analyst in the Treasury organization. He has held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility, including manager of Crude Oil Scheduling in 1988, manager of Crude Oil Purchases and Sales in 1993, and manager of Business Development for Marathon Ashland Petroleum1 in 1999. In 2007, following Marathon Oil’s acquisition of Western Oil Sands Inc., Mr. Palmer was named senior vice president, Oil Sands Operations and Commercial Activities for Marathon Oil Canada Corporation. In 2010, he was appointed director of Crude, Supply and Logistics for Marathon Petroleum Company LLC2, and then named vice president, Crude, Supply and Logistics, also in 2010. He was named to his current position in 2018.
Mr. Palmer graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business in 1976. He attended the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business Program for Strategic Thinking and Managing for Competitive Advantage in 2001 and the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies in 2010.
